The questions we hear most

How much does a check-up cost?
A full examination is £65 — but new patients pay £45 for a limited time, and recall examinations for existing patients are £45 too. Children are £20 (free if a parent is on the Dental Plan). X-rays are £10 each and we usually take two, so budget around £65 all-in for a first visit. Everything after that comes with a written price before we do anything.
How often should I have a check-up?
Every six months suits most people — it's short enough that problems get caught while they're small and cheap. But it isn't a rulebook: if your mouth is very healthy or needs closer watching, we'll recommend the interval that's honestly right for you.
What actually happens at a check-up?
A thorough look at your teeth, gums and any existing dental work; a mouth-cancer screening as standard; checks for decay, gum disease and signs of clenching or grinding; and any X-rays that are due. Then a plain-English conversation about what we found — and if that's "nothing, all healthy", we'll say exactly that and see you in six months.
I haven't been for years. Where do I start?
With one honest check-up and no lecture — we promise. It's the most common story in our waiting room, and most mouths that have waited years need less work than their owners fear. Start with the £45 new-patient check-up and you'll leave knowing exactly where you stand.
Do you take NHS patients?
We're a private practice, so we don't hold NHS contracts — but we've worked hard to keep private care accessible: £45 check-ups for new patients, children at £20, a £22/month Dental Plan covering routine care with 10% off treatment, and 0% finance for larger work. If you need an NHS dentist, nhs.uk has a "find a dentist" search, and NHS 111 can help with urgent problems.
I'm nervous. Honestly, how gentle are you?
Nervous patients are half our practice — read our reviews and you'll spot them. A check-up involves nothing more than looking and talking, nothing ever happens without your say-so, and for treatment, sedation is available if you want it. I clench or grind my teeth — can you help?
Yes — and it's worth raising, because grinding quietly wears teeth flat and cracks fillings long before it hurts. We check for the tell-tale signs at every examination and can protect your teeth (usually with a custom night guard) before the damage gets expensive.
