White fillings that vanish into your smile — composite fillings in Rugby

Decay stopped, tooth rebuilt, colour matched so closely you'll forget which tooth it was. Modern composite fillings are bonded to your tooth, sculpted by hand and set hard before you leave the chair.

Sound familiar?

The twinge you've been pretending isn't there

A little zing with cold drinks or sweet things. A rough edge your tongue keeps finding. Maybe an old grey filling you've quietly stopped showing when you laugh. None of it hurts enough to do anything about — which is exactly how decay likes it.

Here's the maths that matters: decay caught at a £45 check-up is a £140 filling. Left a year or two, that same tooth can need a £450–£550 root canal and a £700 crown. The filling is the cheap exit — and it's painless to take.

Why white composite

Three things the old grey fillings couldn't do

Disappear

Composite is shade-matched to your tooth and sculpted to its shape — the finished filling is genuinely hard to find, even when you know where to look.

Bond to the tooth

Composite is glued to your tooth structure rather than wedged into it, which usually means less drilling and more of your natural tooth kept — the whole game in dentistry.

Set instantly

Cured hard with a light in seconds — no waiting hours to eat on it. One visit, done, back to your day.

The honest bit

Sometimes a filling isn't the right answer

Too little tooth left?

A filling needs enough healthy tooth to hold onto. When too much is gone, a bigger filling just fails sooner — a crown (£700) is the honest recommendation, and we'll show you why on the screen.

Decay reached the nerve?

If the tooth is already aching at night, a filling over the top won't fix it — it usually needs root canal treatment first. We'll tell you straight rather than sell you a filling that's doomed.

Replacing healthy metal fillings?

We're happy to swap old amalgam for white — but if a metal filling is sound and hidden, we'll tell you honestly that replacing it means removing healthy tooth for looks alone. Your call, made with the facts.

How it works

In the chair for under an hour

1

Numb & clean

The tooth is anaesthetised, and every trace of decay is removed — nothing gets sealed in. Most patients say the numbing is the only bit they feel.

2

Build & sculpt

Composite is placed in fine layers, shaped to your tooth's natural contours and bite, and shade-matched to its neighbours.

3

Set & polish

Light-cured hard in seconds, checked against your bite, polished until it feels like tooth. Eat normally as soon as the numbness wears off.

Clear pricing, in writing first

From £140 per white filling

Dental Plan members pay from £126 (10% off, plan from £22/month). Temporary fillings £80. If your tooth actually needs more than a filling, you'll hear it straight — with every option priced in writing before anything starts.

Hate injections? Say so.

Fillings are quick, routine and done under proper anaesthetic — but if the dentist's chair itself is the problem, you're in the majority here, not the minority. Tell us when you book: unhurried appointments, everything explained first, and a whole approach built for nervous patients.

Before you book

Filling questions, answered honestly

How much does a white filling cost in Rugby?
From £140 at Rugby Smiles (from £126 for Dental Plan members), confirmed in writing before we start. A temporary filling — for emergencies or holding a tooth over — is £80.
Does getting a filling hurt?
The tooth is numbed first, so you'll feel vibration and pressure but not pain — most patients say the numbing itself is the only thing they feel all visit. Mild sensitivity for a few days afterwards is normal and settles on its own.
How long do white fillings last?
Typically 5–10 years, often longer — it depends on the size of the filling, where it is, and how the tooth is used (night-grinders wear everything faster). Regular check-ups catch a tired filling before it fails, which keeps the fix small.
Should I replace my old silver fillings with white ones?
Honest answer: only sometimes. If an amalgam filling is cracked, leaking or unsightly when you smile, replacing it makes sense. If it's sound and out of sight, swapping it means drilling away healthy tooth purely for cosmetics — we'll happily do it, but only after telling you that trade-off plainly.
My filling has fallen out — is that an emergency?
It's urgent-ish: the exposed tooth is vulnerable and often sensitive, so don't leave it weeks. Call us on 01788 579 577 — £50 emergency slots are held every day, and a straightforward refill is usually quick.
Can I eat straight after a filling?
Composite sets fully hard before you leave, so the filling itself is ready immediately — just wait for the numbness to wear off (an hour or two) so you don't bite your cheek or tongue without noticing.
Why does my tooth still twinge after a filling?
Some sensitivity to cold or biting for a week or two is normal while the tooth settles — deeper fillings sit close to the nerve. If it's getting worse rather than better, or aching at night, come back: occasionally a deep-decay tooth declares it needed root canal treatment after all, and catching that early matters.
How do I avoid needing fillings at all?
The unglamorous truth: brushing twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, going easy on between-meal sugar (watch the sneaky foods), and regular check-ups so anything starting gets caught at the do-nothing-yet stage. Boring works.

Two ways this goes

You book it in

Under an hour in the chair, from £140, and the twinge is history — along with the decay that was quietly working on that tooth. You forget which tooth it was within a fortnight.

You keep chewing around it

Decay doesn't pause while you're busy. The £140 filling becomes the £450 root canal becomes the £700 crown — same tooth, same problem, just later and dearer. If now's not the time, okay — but this one genuinely rewards speed.

No judgement — however long it's been
